Here are a few updates and new things for 2022!

Gravel Hillclimb is here to stay

Yep, you read it right – the gravel hill climb is here to stay! Turns out it was quite the hit amongst you all and who wouldn’t want to hit that beautiful wall of spectator sound just as the legs are feeling the pinch, having swooped by the ding from kids corner- the atmosphere on that climb was insane and we cannot wait to do it all again in September!

New Gravel Route for 2022

We’ve only made a few tweaks in the last few years and the Dukes route has become a classic for any Gravelfoyle visit but we’ve figured for 2022 we’re going to freshen things up. More news as we get closer but don’t worry, we know we’ve set the bar high!

New Junior Dukes Category for U18’s

We’ve created a new category for U18’s who have got their sights set on completing the whole Dukes Weekender eventually. The junior Dukes will take in 3 stages of the Gravel Enduro so will be shorter in distance but the perfect bridge between our kids enduro and the full Weekender. We reckon this category will be a busy one and we cannot wait to see the juniors step up and test themselves on a longer course. More details about this category on the entry page.

Adaptive Handbike/Recumbent

We’ve been out in the trails with a few friends on handbikes recently so decided we wanted to lead the way in UK gravel events and have an Adaptive Handbike/Recumbent accessible route and category. More info to come but there is a ton of work going on behind the scenes to make this into something very special.

Other Details

The best news is the Kids Enduro and Main Enduro will be operating as normal - absolutely stunning route, fantastic stages and beautiful views! We’ll be mixing things up with a new Gravel Enduro route for 2022!

New event operators: We’ll be releasing more information on this soon but 4 years on and the event will now be operated by Bike Trossachs, a community interest company founded and operated by local cyclists based in Aberfoyle Scotland of which Stu and Rob are part of the group of directors. Bike Trossachs mission is to develop cycling related infrastructure, grow participation and deliver the Trossachs as a leading destination for cycle tourism. This is a hugely exciting transition for Dukes Weekender as all profits from the event will be directly into realising Bike Trossachs mission. More to come on this story.

It goes without saying that we’re operating under Scottish Government Covid guidelines, will do everything we can to keep people safe and the event is fully subject to whatever the applicable Covid guidelines are come the 10th/11th September.

Thanks everyone and looking forward to seeing you all in September
