Dukes 2020 Statement

It is with a great deal of disappointment to announce the cancelation of Dukes Weekender 2020.

The decision has been a long and difficult one. Covid 19 lockdown restrictions are gradually lifting in Scotland and, although it comes with difficult timing, there has been a good possibility that we could legally operate the event within the Scottish Government guidelines.

However, our reality is that the village of Aberfoyle and the surrounding communities are our number one priority.  The event was created as a social and community based event and as both event organisers and local residents we don’t yet feel comfortable in bringing such an influx of visitors to our beautiful area.  Similarly, while many events may be able to adapt and operate so that participants are ‘socially distant’ this is just not the way we want to run Dukes Weekender. Dukes is a social gathering first and foremost and we simply do not want to compromise that.

Once the time is right, we would actively encourage our participants to visit the area, use the local hospitality and enjoy what is the finest gravel riding in the UK.  Our decision is based solely on the scale of our event and that we care enormously about the experience of our competitors.

All those who have entered the event will automatically have it allocated to the 2021 event or if preferred you will be able to claim a refund (minus the entry system admin charge) through the SI entries system.  We will be contacting all riders over the next 24 hours with details.

We’d like to extend a massive thankyou to all the riders, brands and local residents for all the ongoing support.  We look forward to seeing you all in 2021.

Cheers

Stu and Rob.
